I am a professional Norfolk model portfolio photographer based in Norwich. A model is a person often used to promote, display or advertise commercial services or products such as fashion clothing. Models are also used to pose for artistic work.
Are you an aspiring model, actor or actress, or someone who needs some new images for casting as an extra? I can help by photographing you in a variety of poses, outdoors on location and indoors in a studio. My operating times are weekdays and weekends from 9:00am to sunset.

3. Testimonial by Natalie Lauren
“I have now worked with David on 3 shoots and am always hugely impressed with his work. His knowledge of the local area is fantastic so I know I will always get a multitude of backdrops which match the mood of the shoot. We always coordinate before hand with Pinterest so that we are both on the same page regarding inspirations and what we want.
On set he is great at making you feel comfortable and confident. He is more than happy to help with poses and give feedback on facial expression so you get the shots you want. In addition, the way David edits the photos are brilliant – very natural and always ensuring you look your best. My family and agent have been consistently impressed with his work and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him to anyone, based on the commercial jobs and model portfolio work we have done together. Thank you so much David” Natalie Woodward (Model)
“Received the pictures and myself and my wife are very happy and would like to say thank you. Very impressed also at the speed you processed and got them available for us to view. Thank you again David, we will be booking you again to add to Gemma’s portfolio in the very near future”.
5. Model Portfolio Photography Service
If you are new to modelling I will advise you with poses, types and the variety of images you will need. I will also help you to maximise your full potential in this competitive industry.
I have several part time models, both male and female who have modelled and now work with me on commercial photo shoots. Most of this type of work is in the beauty and fashion industry. It is an excellent way to get experience, earn some money and to obtain a variety of new images.
For beauty work it is best if you do not have any tattoos or piercings (except for ears and belly button).
If you are an existing model you will need to obtain new images regularly. Also, if you have taken a break you will need to have some up to date images.
Your images are vitality important is it often the first thing any client will see. You therefore need to make a good first and lasting impression. I will tailor your photo shoot to meet your needs and to make sure that you stand out from the crowd.
6. My Approach
I love photographing people and putting them as ease through friendly discussion. I also ensure that my clients feel confident and that they are happy and relaxed during a photo shoot. It is only in this environment that truly great portraits can be obtained. I also love the moments when I can capture a fleeting expression or a special look in the eyes to provide images that have real impact on the viewer.
Fortunately both Norfolk and Suffolk has scenery that changes within a few miles. The choices for your shoot include the city of Norwich with its urban landscape and parks, towns, villages, Broadland, Breckland, woods and the wide sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast. Imagine doing a shoot at beautiful Wells Next the Sea with pine woodland, a sandy beach and colourful beach huts.
Southwold in Suffolk with it’s pier, beach huts and sandy beach is another great location for a shoot. Nearby Walberswick and Covehithe are other suitable locations.
To complete your portfolio you will also need some indoor studio shots plus some excellent heads shots.
Your portfolio needs to show a variety of images from extreme close up to full length. It also needs to show your character and best features. Spend some time moving to different locations and changing clothes because that is the only way you will get variety in your images. Don’t make the mistake of having several images in your portfolio showing a white studio backdrop and wearing the same clothes.
The more changes and variety of clothing you bring on your photo shoot the better. About 8 outfits, some that you can mix and match, are suitable for a 4 hour session. You do not need to spend lots of money on new clothes. It is also best to travel as light as possible whilst on a photo shoot. I can give you some ideas on how to make the best use of the clothes that you already have.
It helps if you can bring along an all white and an all black outfit. Female models who wish to show their figure, should bring to their photo shoot some close fitting clothes such as a leotard or swimwear (swimsuit and bikini).
Props are also useful to bring along such as a scarf, hat, sunglasses, jewellery or a parasol. I often bring some props to the shoot. The images on my website will help to give you some ideas on the types clothing and props to bring with you.
8. Time of year and how to get a fantastic model portfolio
The best time of the year to undertake photo shoots is between April and October. Spring provides lots of scenery with flowers, Summer is great for a beach shoot. Furthermore, Autumn provides lots of rich colours and a golden light. Good light is essential on a model photo shoot. Hence a bright, overcast, warm day is best.
To get fantastic results you will need to put in a lot of effort. Frequent clothes changes, wearing clothes that do do match the the weather conditions and frequent topping up of your makeup is all part of the experience.
