The smallest wedding that I have ever photographed is one in Southwold. It was of an eloping couple who married at The Electric Picture Palace, a small art deco cinema. The wedding party was the bride and groom and the two witnesses were staff working at the cinema. The couple wanted a private wedding with photographs to show to their family and friends when they got home. Most small weddings however have around 20 to 50 guests.
I love to photograph small weddings because they are often informal and more intimate. They normally provide the opportunity to spend more time with the Bride and Groom than a standard wedding and to get some lovely wedding portraits.
George and Amy pictured above married at Norwich Castle. I first met them when they visited my studio to discuss their wedding requirements and again at their engagement photo shoot on Winterton Beach. For the wedding, most of the 45 guests, including the bride were transported to the Castle in a double decker bus. I photographed the wedding and also the start of the reception held at Hickling Barn.
Up to 50 wedding guests is a nice number of people to organise and photograph. It provides the opportunity to get some wedding portraits, group shots, confetti shots and other shots as events unfold.
