Please find below answers to some frequently asked questions about portraits:-
Q1. What is Portrait Photography?
Portrait photography is about capturing the personality or essence of a person or group of people by using lighting, backdrops and a variety of poses. Portrait lighting is very important and the best conditions are outdoors on a bright overcast day.
Q2. What locations can we use for a portrait shoot?
We are very fortunate that Norfolk has a range of landscapes including stunning beaches, woodland and The Broads that can be used as the backdrop for your portrait photo shoot. Ideally for you to feel comfortable on a photo shoot we need to be away from crowds on onlookers. Whilst I use several tied and trusted locations you are welcome to suggest locations of your choice.
Q3. What clothing should I wear and what props should I bring to a portrait photo shoot?
You are likely to want a variety of images from close up to full length. So if you bring several changes of clothing to your photo shoot this will help me to satisfy your requirements.
I recommend that you bring about 4 changes of clothing for each hour. If we are working at an outdoor location don’t bring anything that is too heavy to carry. Outfits that you can mix and match helps to reduce the weight and bulk. I suggest that you bring along some clothes that you are prepared to wear sitting or lying on the ground to add to the variety of poses. You can choose any style of clothing of your choice. Wear whatever you most feel most comfortable in.
Also bring along some props and clothing accessories such as jewellery. They are very useful to enhance your clothing and to improve your images.
Q4. When is the best time of the year to have a portrait photo shoot?
I love shooting portraits outdoors in the countryside and in urban locations. Spring, Summer and Autumn are the best seasons for natural light. Spring flowers can add something special to your photo shoot.
The long hazy days of Summer with warmer temperatures are great for casual summer wear. Autumn with it’s lovely vibrant colours can be a magical time. Each season offers different opportunities.
Q5. How many images will I receive?
You will get around 30 images per hour of shooting. The number will depend on the number of locations and clothing changes. Your images will be supplied in high resolution suitable for printing and in low resolution suitable for smartphone, tablet, computer and social media use.
Q6. Are there any hidden costs?
No – Travel costs are included in my quotation.
Q7. Can I print the images that you have supplied?
Yes, you will receive a set of high resolution images suitable for printing.
Q8. Can you supply other products?
In addition to supplying digital images I can also supply you with prints, framed prints, canvas prints, acrylics, photo books and much more. Prices and options are available on request.
Q9. How long will it take to get the photos?
Your edited processed images will normally be available to you within a few days of your portrait photo shoot.
