I am David Woodcock a Norfolk engagement photographer based in Norwich. Would you like an “In Love” photo shoot? It will be exciting and great fun. You will get some lovely romantic images.
Norfolk and Norwich – Engagement Photo Shoots
Your photo session will take place at a location of your choice in Norwich, Norfolk or North Suffolk.
There are so many locations in Norfolk from which to choose for your photo shoot. See these examples:-
- How Hill in Ludham (Stacey and Tom)
- Winterton Beach (Amy and George)
- Hunstanton Beach (Susie and Gerry)
- Dunston Hall (Xiaoyan and Keith)
I have lots of other locations that I can suggest to you such as quiet but beautiful Happisburgh beach. If you really like my style of images I would love the opportunity to provide you with something similar.
Engagement Images
Your engagement images will show you as a couple walking hand in hand, sitting together, chatting, cuddling, kissing, laughing, having fun and being involved with each other in a natural way. Even if you do not like having your photograph taken you will soon relax. This is the key to creating some stunning images.
It is great time to try out some creative photography and have some fun. It will also result in you being more relaxed on your wedding day. As a consequence this will come through in your images.
Afterwards I will edit and process selected images to ensure optimum results. They will be sent to you in high and low resolutions by file transfer. You will be able to download the images to a computer, smartphone or tablet. These images can be used to create your own prints, canvas prints or acrylics. You can also purchase these products from me.
There are many ways to use your engagement photos. You could use them when sending out your wedding invitations. You could use them to create a signing book or signing frame on your wedding day. A large canvas print of the two of you would look great if you have a large wall space at home.
Below are answers to some common questions about how to approach your engagement photo shoot
Location – Where should we go?
The location for your engagement photo shoot is very important because it has a big impact on the feel and look of the images that you will get. I always advise couples to choose a location that means something to them. Gemma in the photograph below choose Castle Acre Castle in Norfolk, very close to where she lived as a young girl and a place that holds many happy memories for her. It is also nice to chose a location away from the crowds where you can be more relaxed. I know many fantastic locations for your engagement photo shoot so if you are struggling to find somewhere suitable please get in touch.
When is the best time?
I recommend that you have your engagement shoot at least 6 weeks before your wedding day. This gives you the chance to enjoy the images beforehand. Some locations are better during different seasons and time of day. Light can change quickly but bright overcast conditions are best for this type of photography.
Clothing – What should we wear?
It is advisable for the couple to wear bright comfortable clothes that match in style and colour. Both formal and informal clothing can be worn but wear what feels most natural for you. Avoid high fashion as this will quickly date your photographs. I would recommend at least two changes of outfits and ensure that your shoes match your clothing and are appropriate for the location.
Chris and Gemma shown in the images below are a very attractive couple. For the first half of their engagement shoot Gemma wore a red dress and Chris wore a matching shirt. Gemma then changed into a blue and white dress and Chris changed into a matching shirt. This demonstrates that for the men a second t-shirt, shirt or sweater that matches your fiancés dress is more than enough to get a different look.
Hair and Makeup – How should I apply my makeup?
Some brides like to trial their hair and makeup before their wedding. Take advantage of this and arrange your pre wedding photo shoot on the same day. If you cannot do this, the ladies should apply their makeup as if they were going out. Makeup will normally look a little lighter in photos so you should apply a little more than normal.
Props and Accessories – What should we bring to our engagement photo shoot?
I advised Gemma and Chris to bring along some props to their engagement shoot and the images below show examples of items that were used.
This shows how a simple image can be made by using a blackboard in the shape of a heart. The message “She said yes” is effective and conveys the fun of the photo shoot.
These images show the feeling of an engagement shoot with Gemma and Chris kissing and walking hand in hand.
