Over the years as a professional photographer I have seen some amazing wedding venues in Norfolk and Suffolk. They range from stately homes and grand hotels to small, intimate, yet well presented venues.
Some have spa and golf facilities that can cater for large numbers of guests. Some have accommodation and others are more suitable for receptions particularly if you marrying in a church.
Unusual places for marriages include windmills, train stations, cinemas and the more obvious such as registry offices. Some have nice decor, gardens and backdrops that can add a special touch to your photographs.
With so many options to choose from it is difficult to pick a favourite. However mainly for their facilities and spectacular backdrops for your wedding photos, here is my choice.
My Favourite Wedding Venues
The Reading Room, Alby, Norfolk
Lovely Grounds and Barn – The Reading Room
It is my favourite choice for occasions where there are many guests (up to 80 can be seated). On my first visit in 2019 I was wowed with the hosts, the setting and the facilities available.
The barn has a lovely spacious interior and the splendid gardens are ideal as a backdrop for your photos. There is a large car park with a winding path through an archway that leads to the garden and barn.
Cley Windmill, Cley Next The Sea, Norfolk
Windmill at Cley Next The Sea
Cley is situated between the tranquil seaside town of Wells and the lovely seaside town of Sheringham. It is also about 7 miles North East of Fakenham and approximately 5 miles north of the historic town of Holt.
Cley Mill is my favourite choice for a small wedding such as Susie and Jerry’s. The licence only allows the premises to have 25 people in the ceremony room including the bride and groom. The accommodation has beautiful bedrooms and also grounds that are superb for getting stunning photos.
I have visited the Mill on several other occasions to photograph the interior and to photograph a fashion shoot for a magazine. I cannot wait to visit again.
North Park Lodge, Cromer, Norfolk
Cromer – North Park Lodge
The gardens, nearby pier and the beach are great locations for your wedding photographs.
Norwich Castle (The Registry Office), Norfolk
Norwich Castle – Registry Office
The Electric Picture Palace, Southwold, Suffolk
Southwold – The Electric Picture Palace
The Electric Picture Palace in the seaside town of Southwold is a beautiful art deco cinema. It is available to hire for weddings when films are not being shown. The cinema is perfect for a vintage styled wedding or for occasions such as parties when people are in vintage dress.
The cinema facade, interior and the many places to visit within easy walking distance such as Gun Hill, colourful beach huts and the pier, make this an ideal backdrop for your wedding photographs.
