As a Holt photographer my services include property, portrait, head shot, model portfolio, wedding, event, commercial and landscapes.
The town has many buildings dating from the Georgian era. The reason for this is that there was a fire that devastated the medieval town in 1708. There are lots of streets and ally ways in Holt with individual shops and cafes offering a friendly service.
Byfords pictured below, is always worth a visit for a cup of tea and a piece of cake. I really love their Victoria Sponge and know several people who will travel for miles to buy one. I can also highly recommend the Albert Street Fish Bar for fish and chips. A car park just around the corner provides free parking for 30 minutes. This is just enough time to get your fish and chips and eat them in the car if you are just passing by.
North Norfolk Railway
The North Norfolk Railway runs 5 miles along “The Poppy Line” to Sheringham. It passes through some stunning coastal scenery. Steam trains operate daily in the summer months. Special events take place throughout the year. I love to walk from Holt to Sheringham mainly along the Norfolk Coast Path and to get the train back.
The Queen Victoria Jubilee Lantern shown below is Blind Sam.
Originally located in the Market Square to provide gas powered light, the lantern was moved to make way for the War Memorial shown below. If you are wondering why the lantern was called Blind Sam it was because the gas supply was sporadic and light from the lantern was unreliable.
Holt also has a County Park that is a pleasant area for rambling. Other large nearby towns that are worth a visit for their historic and shopping experiences are the market town of Aylsham and historic North Walsham.
