As a Great Yarmouth photographer my services include portrait and model portfolios. I also specialise in Norfolk landscape photography sold as wall art and family photo shoots. The town and neighbouring areas are ideal for this purpose.
About Great Yarmouth
Known to the locals as Yarmouth, this large seaside town is one of the best places for landscape photography in Norfolk. It is very popular with tourists and is home to the Time and Tide Museum. The town lies at the mouth of the River Yare. It has a working port.
The Golden Mile is a wide beach promenade that runs parallel to the long sandy beach. You can enjoy ice cream and candy floss whilst watching the horse drawn carriages. Marine Parade facilities include Britannia Pier (that includes a theatre, bar and shops), the Hollywood Cinema, the Marina Centre (with a tropical pool), Amazonia (reptile house), The Sea Life Centre (where you can discover marine habitats), Merrivale Model Village (a model village with landscaped gardens) and The Pleasure Beach (a leisure park with fun rides).
Great Yarmouth has many facilities including restaurants, diners, cafes, tea rooms, bars, amusement arcades, beach huts and crazy golf. From here you can also visit the Norfolk Broads. Also visit neighbouring Gorleston on Sea for a quieter seaside experience.
Restored and reopened in 2019 the Venetian Waterways and Ornamental Gardens pictured above are a superb public facility. They are free to enter and located on the sea front to the north of the town. The gardens are also a superb place for a family photo shoot.
The wide sandy beach is great way to spend a few hours as you can see in the image above swimming in the sea is a popular activity. When swimming in the North Sea be aware that the tides come in very quickly. The currents are very strong and you can easily be swept out to sea. It is also wise to swim is areas designated by the lifeguards and where they are on the lookout.
The Britannia Pier has a variety of summer shows popular with the locals and tourist visitors. You can see in the above image the names of stars appearing such as Jim Davidson, Joe Pasquale plus Cannon and Ball.
Opened in 2017 is a new attraction on the sea front called Jurassic Journey. Located in the Atlantis Tower it has static and animatronic (moving) dinosaurs including stegosaurus, velociraptor, tyrannosaurus rex, triceratops and a pterodactyl. The walk through exhibit takes you back to a time when the dinosaurs ruled the earth.
The promenade between the main road and the beach is wide and over a mile in length. Along here there are many places to eat and drink and purchase swimwear, buckets and spades plus postcards.
