As a Beccles photographer my services include portrait, family photo shoots, model portfolios and Norfolk and Suffolk landscapes sold as modern wall art.
About Beccles
Beccles is a market town in the beautiful County of Suffolk, about 18 miles south of Norwich. It lies on the River Waveney and is within the Broads area that has National Park status.

The Beccles town sign show above shows the event on 1584 when Queen Elizabeth I handed to John Bass, the Charter of the Corporation
The Scores are narrow lanes that lead down to the River Waveney. The name of each Score is stated on the pavement as shown in the photo above. The term Score for a narrow lane is also used in the popular seaside resort of nearby Lowestoft.
Above is a photograph of the Town Hall an 18th century octagonal building. The stone at the front tells you that the town is 109 miles from London.
The Bell Tower of St Michael’s Church dominates the town and market square. The walk to the top of the Tower is well worth the views with a 360 degree panorama of the town and the River Waveney.
The town has a market that takes place every Friday. There are also plenty of hotels, restaurants, pubs and shops.
The lovely Bear and Bells Public House has great ales and home cooked food
The Quay shown below lies off the River Waveney. It is a very popular area for boating and is very busy in the Summer months. It is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by.
Sadly the River Waveney does not have as much wildlife as it should because of mink that have escaped into the countryside. However controls are in place to keep the mink population down and wildlife is slowly returning to the river.
In and Around Beccles
I love and can recommend walking from Beccles along the River Waveney to Geldeston where navigation ends. Unfortunately there is some Japanese Knotweed, one of the worlds most invasive species, along the riverbank. Measures are being taken to eradicate it. On the walk you will find The Locks Inn that is a nice place to stop for a drink. As this is a circular walk the return to Beccles is along the other side of the river.
The beautiful Quay area with excellent car parking is an ideal spot for a family or group photo shoot.
Also the nearby town of Loddon on the River Chet is a much quieter place to visit if you are in the area.
If you are looking for a nice family beach I can highly recommend Southwold that is only 14 miles away.
